Study on Fault Characteristics and Its Related Impact Factors of Photovoltaic Generator

Abstract:After the photovoltaic (PV) power is implemented in low voltage ride-through (LVRT), its complex short-circuit current characteristics have brought many adverse effects on grid relay protection. According to the topological structure of PV power and the characteristics of LVRT control strategy, the theoretical solution method of PV power fault current is proposed, and its transient and steady-state calculation models are given. Then the correctness of the theoretical solution method is verified by digital simulation. On this basis, the influence of factors such as PI controller parameters, fault voltage drop depth and load level on PV power fault characteristics is further analyzed. The analysis conclusions can provide important references for relay protection research of power grids containing PV power and controller parameter design.
