Research on Rotor Position Detection of Four Phase Switched Reluctance Motor Based on Searching Coils Considering Mutual Inductance

Abstract:Considering the influence of mutual inductance on the position estimation of the four phase switched reluctance motor using searching coils, a rotor position estimation method is proposed in this paper. At first, the mutual inductance between phase windings and searching coils, the mutual inductance between searching coils are discussed. Thus the position estimation error of the eigenvalue intercepting method and the threshold comparison method caused by mutual inductance are analyzed. On this basis, it is proposed that two searching coils are used to realize initial positioning and start the SRM, and the single searching coil is used to detect the position of the four phase SRM rotor after starting. The proposed method can effectively eliminate the influence of the mutual inductance between searching coils and improve position estimation precision. Finally, simulations and experiments verify the correctness and feasibility of the proposed method.
