Abstract:This paper investigates the voltage transfer ratio (VTR) characteristics of conventional matrix converter (CMC). The analytic expression of instantaneous voltage transfer ratio (IVTR) affected by output/input frequency ratio, initial phase of output voltage, and input power factor angle is derived and analyzed. By performing double Fourier transform on output line voltage, the maximum fundamental VTR with minimum phase error (MPE) over-modulation strategy is obtained for CMC. A novel MPE over-modulation strategy adopting linear weighted theory is proposed. Both simulation and experimental results show that the proposed strategy can improve fundamental VTR of CMC up to 0.953 while maintaining small output voltage amplitude error and low output current harmonic components.
