A Grid Current Closed-Loop Control Strategy for Matrix Converter Based on States Feedback of Filter

Abstract:The use of the input filters usually results in the decreasing of the input power factor (IPF), especially under light-load condition. And the system stability is also influenced by the resonant characteristics of the LC filter. To solve these problems, a grid current closed-loop control strategy based on states feedback of the filter for the matrix converter is proposed. As the control targets in this scheme, the gird currents in synchronous reference frame are the feedback of current loop. Besides, the transient disturbances of filter state variables are also added to compensate the current vector reference of virtual rectifier. According to this current vector reference, matrix converter is modulated. By designing a proper state feedback gain matrix, the closed-loop poles of the system are shifted to a more stable area, which enhances the system stability. Finally, experimental results show that the oscillation of dynamic process is damped effectively and a high power factor is attained at full power range.
