Abstract:The maximum voltage transfer ratio (VTR) is 0.866 in the linear modulation region of the matrix converter (MC).To overcome the defect of low VTR of MC,the over-modulation strategy is an effective method and no additional devices are needed.Most of traditional over-modulation methods are based on different vector combinations in the invert to improve VTR.However,there is little attention on the input stage of MC,which means the input current total harmonic distortion (THD) is high.Based on analyzing of traditional over-modulation method,a new over-modulation strategy is presented.The rectifier stage and the invert stage of MC adopt different vector combinations in the proposed method so that both the THD of the input current and the error between the output voltage and the given voltage are small.Simulation and experimental results indicate that the proposed over-modulation strategy is feasible.
