24-Pulse Aviation Transformer Rectifier Based on Passive Half-Bridge Auxiliary Circuit

Abstract:A passive half-bridge auxiliary circuit with high reliability is applied on the DC side which improve the harmonic and ripple suppression performance and energy conversion efficiency in this paper. Connected in parallel with the load, the auxiliary circuit feedbacks harmonic power to the DC bus and produces an additional voltage with a 15° phase shift,forming 24 pulses of load voltage. The auxiliary circuit forces the two sets of three-phase diode-bridge rectifiers (Rec I and Rec II) to operate in mixed modes: parallel operation, Rec I separate operation and Rec II separate operation, for suppressing the input line current harmonic content. Analyzing the harmonic suppression mechanism and configuration, the key techniques and operation mode of the proposed 24-pulse transformer rectifier (TRU) are also demonstrated. With robustness, practicability and simple circuit configuration, the proposed 24-pulse TRU draws near sinusoidal input current from the utility and needs no synchronous control signal.
