Abstract:The trigger characteristics of laser triggered vacuum switch (LTVS) are mainly determined by the generation and development of initial plasma. With the established circuit based on detachable vacuum chamber, the parameters such as laser power density, laser focal area, electric field intensity and clearance distance were changed. Based on the initial plasma generation and development of LTVS, the trigger characteristics of LTVS of cone target were analyzed respectively. The experimental results show that: The trigger characteristics of LTVS with positive polarity are obviously better than that with negative polarity. The trigger delay time of LTVS decreases with the rise of laser power density, laser focal area and electric field intensity in the gap, and increases with the rise of electrode spacing. With the increase of laser power density, the trigger delay time of LTVS decreases gradually and tends to be stable. In the case of positive and negative polarity, the difference of trigger time-delay of LTVS significantly decreases with the increase of laser power density, and the difference of trigger time-delay is only 6.5ns when the laser power density is 14.98×107W/cm2.
