Abstract:A wide-area additional damping controller for doubly-fed wind farms based on Smith predictor-active disturbance rejection control (SP-ADRC) is proposed to solve the time-delay problem of wide-area additional damping control of wind farms in interconnected power grids. The real-time estimation of uncertain time-delay is realized by using fading memory recursive least squares method. On this basis, the influence of time-delay on closed-loop control in power system is reduced by using Smith predictor. It overcomes the defect that the control effect of traditional ADRC controller becomes worse in time-delay system, and retains the advantages of active estimation and compensation for uncertainties of ADRC. Finally, a new England 10-generator 39-bus system with wind farms is tested. The simulation results show that the proposed wide-area additional damping controller can effectively suppress the low-frequency oscillation.
