Abstract:External rotor coreless permanent magnet motor with halbach magnet array can help flywheel energy storage system to improve the system integration, simplify the system structure and increase the power density effectively. Due to the self-shielding magnetization of halbach magnet array,the topology of stator coreless is easy-to-implement when combining with the external rotor. An external rotor coreless permanent magnet motor is given to study the configuration of the rotor with halbach magnet array and the distribution of armature coils. The magnetic field characteristic and the copper loss of windings are analyzed by finite element method. The conductor transposition at each turn coil inside is conducted to restrain circulating current due to the variation of the magnetic field distribution. Finally, eddy-current loss of PM due to stator current is calculated by field-circuit coupling method. In this paper, the electromechanical energy conversion efficiency of the optimization design of 200 kW motor is as high as above 99%.
