Direct Torque Control of Five-Phase Fault-Tolerant Permanent Magnet Vernier Motor Based on Duty Cycle Modulation

Abstract:When the conventional direct torque control (DTC) is adopted, a five-phase fault-tolerant permanent magnet vernier motor suffers from high torque ripple and current harmonic components. An improved direct torque control strategy based on duty cycle modulation is proposed. It uses a simple and effective solution to calculate the optimal time for the effective voltage vector, which is based on the torque and flux linkage error of each sampling period. This strategy not only maintains the good dynamic response of the motor, but also effectively reduces torque and flux pulsation and reduces the third harmonic content of the phase current. At the same time, this strategy remains the inherent merits of simple operation and simple structure. The experimental results verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed control strategy.
