Abstract:Electromagnetic analysis plays an important role in motor design. Especially, loss calculation during rated operation is the precondition of temperature field calculation of motor. It is also the key to confirm the motor design program. In this paper, a twelve-phase induction motor with skewed slot is presented. Through establishing the motor’s three-dimensional field-circuit coupled nonlinear finite element computation model based on T, ψ -ψ method, the magnetic field and loss are investigated. The electromagnetic characteristics of motor under rated operating conditions is obtained. Then the distribution of the magnetic density in key position is analyzed. The results show that tooth harmonics are significantly suppressed by skewed slot. The motor loss calculated by finite element method is compared by the experimental result, which verified the validity of three-dimensional finite element method.
