Abstract:Improved Steinmetz connection of three-phase self-excited induction generator is analyzed in steady-state operation. The loop impedance of the generator system in such connection is obtained with the symmetrical component method, which is supposed to be zero according to Kirchhoff’s voltage law (KVL). The combinations of capacitors for the given load and output voltage is calculated by setting the loop impedance to be zero. The optimum combination for steady state operation of the system is determined by the minimum negative sequence current. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental results, which verified the validity and correctness of the analysis method.
