A Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation with Common-Mode Voltage Reduction and Capacitor Voltage Balance Control for Five-Level Active Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter

Abstract:In order to solve the problems of common-mode voltage and capacitor voltage balance for five-level active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) converter, a novel space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm based on gh coordinate is presented. The proposed SVPWM algorithm not only reduces the common-mode voltage, but also balances the capacitor voltages. First, the common-mode voltage is reduced by choosing the appropriate redundant switching states. After that, according to the floating-capacitor voltage deviations and output current directions for each phase, floating-capacitor voltages are balanced by selecting the appropriate switch combinations. Moreover, model predictive control (MPC) of neutral-point voltage is proposed. The optimal switching sequence is selected by using the receding optimization based on the cost function for all the five-segment switching sequences. Finally, the experimental results verify the validity of the proposed SVPWM algorithm.
