Abstract:PV-based EV charging station is an effective system to integrate the PV generation system into the charging facility. It would effectively reduce indirect carbon emission and the impacts on the grid network. In this paper, a real-time operation strategy is proposed for the PV-based EV charging station. EVs are classified into two categories: the rigid EVs and the flexible EVs, following three principles of adapting to charging demand, maximizing the self-consumption of PV energy and reducing the impacts on the power grid. It consists of four main parts, that is, EV classification, the feasible charging rate, the mechanism of dynamical event triggering and the algorithm of real-time power allocation for EVs. Furthermore, in order to avoid the defect introduced by forecasting algorithm, non-forecasting strategy is adopted. The simulation results have shown that the proposed strategy can make full use of PV system. The strategy will promote the application of PV-based EV charging station.
