Abstract:In this paper,an improved impressed diagnostic pulse-voltage method to estimate the rotor position of 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM) with segmental rotors is presented.Instead of injecting the impressed voltage pulse into every phase in the conventional approach,the proposed method only injects the pulse into one inactive phase.Because the inductance of the SRM does not vary obviously,the noise in the small characteristic current signal may cause failure of the sensorless method.The new sensorless method is to inject a pulse diagnostic signal with increasing width into the inactive phases.Thereafter,the increased variations of the characteristic current are compared with some appropriate thresholds to estimate rotor position.Finally,the improved impressed diagnostic pulse-voltage method combined with the current gradient sensorless method (CGSM) is proposed to reduce the error of voltage pulse injection method at high speeds.The experiment results demonstrate the feasibility and the practicality of the proposed method.
