Abstract:The traditional dual-switch forward converter is limited by the transformer ratio and the minimum duty cycle of the switch, which is impossible to apply on high step-down ratio situation. This paper proposes a non-isolated new high step-down ratio DC-DC converter on the basis of the above. The DC-DC converter removes the transformer and substitutes the rectifier diode for an inductor that acts as an energy feedback to achieve a high step-down ratio with the appropriate duty cycle. This paper analyzed the voltage reduction principle of the converter, concluded four operating states of the converter in the continuous mode of the filter inductor current, deduced the calculation formula of the output gain of the converter, and provided the limiting conditions of the current continuous mode. Compared with other two kinds of step-down circuits, the DC-DC converter showed its advantages. Finally, an experimental prototype was built to achieve a step-down ratio up to 50 times, which proved the correctness of theoretical analysis.
