Effect of Atmospheric-pressure Microsecond Pulsed Discharges on Epoxy Resin Surface

Abstract:In order to study the surface flashover on epoxy resin (EP) under atmospheric pressure,the surface flashover characteristics are experimented before and after discharges,which was driven by repeated microsecond pulses to cause discharge aging.All EP surface discharge aging experiments are done by an 18 kV pulsed voltage with 100 Hz frequency and 10 mm gap distance.All the surface roughness,water contact angle,morphology of EP surface characteristics are measured after different aging times.It shows that a large number of protruding particles can be found on the PE surface after discharge,which indicates that the surface discharges make the PE surface become porous and hydrophilic.Through the flashover experiments on the aged EP,it is found that the flashover voltage decreased and then increased with time.These experimental results can provide some reference to study the EP surface flashover.
