A Modulation Strategy Based on Current Hysteresis Control for Modular Multilevel Converter

Abstract:An improved nearest level modulation (MLM) method is proposed in this paper,for modular multilevel converters (MMC) in low-voltage and medium-voltage application.An current hysteresis controller is used to correct the differential current.The hysteresis band of the hysteresis controller was analyzed.The proposed modulation method has merits such as easy implementation,good dynamic performance,small calculation burden.Comparison between traditional NLM and improved NLM is presented in simulation and experiment.The results prove that the proposed method can effectively improve the quality of output current and follow the reference current accurately.
