Abstract：A 1.5 megawatts(MW) excitation control system of variable speed constant frequency(VSCF) doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG) for wind turbine was developed. Based on the analysis of control strategy, the synchronization, steady and dynamic performance are studied experimentally. Experimental results show that soft synchronizing can be implemented when the generator speed is within the designed range and active/reactive power can be regulated independently. The excitation control system can be applied to 1.5 MW level wind power generation system.
