Optimal Design of Thrust Characteristics of Flat-Type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor

Abstract  In order to reduce the thrust ripple and increase the average thrust of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), a 12-slot 10-pole flat-type PMLSM is taken as the research object to optimize the design parameters. Firstly, the analysis of sensitivity based on the Taguchi method is adopted, six sensitive parameters are selected from twelve design parameters and determined as optimization variables. Then, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization assisted by the Kriging model is used to get the Pareto frontier of thrust ripple and average thrust. The results show that the optimized PMLSM reduces the thrust ripple by 64% while the average thrust increases by 6.6% compared with the original one. With the skew pole, the thrust ripple can be further reduced by 92%. Finally, the improvement of motor is verified through experiments.
