Abstract  Due to fluctuations in power grid, the operational process of power transformer often exists harmonic input which has a significant impact on its operational vibration and noise. The changes in vibration and noise will have an impact on surrounding environment and the service life of power transformers. In order to simulate the presence of harmonics in the power grid, harmonic excitation needs to be superimposed on the power frequency sinusoidal excitation. This paper improves the magnetic characteristic measurement device, and carries out the measurement of the magnetization and magnetostrictive characteristics of the silicon steel sheet core under different harmonics to explore the magnetic characteristics, electromagnetic vibration and sound field distribution of power transformers under harmonic excitation. Based on the measurement data, the electromagnetic vibration of the power transformer is analyzed and calculated; The magnetic, mechanical, and sound field of the power transformer under harmonic excitation are calculated, and the vibration results are obtained considering the magnetostrictive effect of the core. The calculation results are compared and analyzed with normal condition to summarize the impact of harmonic input on the electromagnetic vibration of the core; Active noise reduction analysis method is used to study the sound field distribution and frequency characteristics around the transformer to prove the feasibility of active noise reduction.
