Speed and Rotor Position Estimation for PMSM Based on Hall Vector Phase-Tracking

Abstract:Three-phasehall sensors are commonly utilized in permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) to provide lowresolution rotor position. In order to correct the rotor position estimation error of PMSM, the hall vector phase tracking (HVPT)method was proposed.Firstly,the hall rotation vector which contains the rotor position information was obtained by 3/2coordinate transformation. Secondly, the synchronous frequency tracking-filterswere applied in two orthogonal components of the hall rotation vector. Next, the fundamental waves which containthe sine and cosine function of the rotor position were obviously obtained as their high-order harmonic nosies were filtered out. Finally, the orthogonal phase-locked loop was used in the fundamental waves to estimate the rotor position and speed. This method using HVPT which can compensate the estimated error caused by the mechanical unevennessrelated to hall sensors has the feature of no needs for system parameters, easily implemented and low cost. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experimental results.
