Predictive control is a way to obtain good dynamic performance for the control objectives. By analyzing and comparing the properties of the current model predictive control and the speed predictive control systems by parameters like the integral of time-weighted absolute value of the error, a cascade predictive control of two-stage construction which give consideration to stability and rapidity of rotor position servo control system of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) was proposed. The results of simulation and experiment verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the servo stiffness advantage of the cascade predictive control.
