Abstract:Sensorless starting method has always been an essential concern for switched reluctance motor(SRM). This paper presents a new starting method based on the current slope differences of conducting phase and non-conducting phase. Given the symmetrical characteristic of three-phase winding, incoming phase reaches its 0 degree at the cross-point of the current slope differences of conducting phase and non-conducting phase, the commutation will be completed simultaneously. Conducting interval has been optimized and starting efficiency has been improved. Furthermore, this starting method is suitable for smooth transition to high-speed sensorless method, so that the sensorless operation among wide-speed-range can be realized.Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method.
