Control Strategy of Loss Distribution Balancing for Three-Level Active Neutral-Point-Clamped Inverter

Abstract:The topology of active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) inverter can balance the loss distribution of switch devices by adding new zero-state current paths. In this paper, the loss distribution of the three-level ANPC inverter among different output states change is analyzed. Using space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), eight commutation modes and their loss distributions are studied. For different load power factor, two novel control strategies of adjustable loss distribution are proposed. As a result, it leads to effectively control loss distributions balancing with different loads. The experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
