Abstract:To study the influence of corrosion inhibitor BTA on sulfur corrosion of transformer oil, a series of accelerated thermal aging tests was carried out by adding corrosive sulfur and BTA to new transformer oil in the laboratory. The surface state, microstructure and element components of copper winding and insulation paper were analyzed by macroscopic observation, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX) analyzer. Meanwhile, the breakdown voltage, dielectric loss and volume resistivity of transformer oil after thermal aging tests were measured by insulating oil dielectric strength automatic tester and insulating oil dielectric loss/resistivity tester. Electrochemical analysis of copper windings was analyzed by three-electrode electrochemical system. The results show that the surface state of copper windings represents its corrosive level Adding BTA can inhibit oil sulfur corrosion, protect copper windings, and slow down the oil aging. BTA can not only act on both new copper winding and the corroded copper windings, but also increase the winding linear polarization resistance and decrease corrosion current.
