Research on Active Suppression Method of Three-Phase Unbalanced Overvoltage for Distribution Networks

Abstract:The unbalanced three-phase impedances to the ground will cause three-phase unbalanced voltage in the distribution networks with ineffective earthed methods.The unbalanced over voltage has influence on the reliability and security of the distribution network.The overvoltage generating mechanism is analyzed in this paper.Based on that,an active over voltage suppression method is proposed.The suppression device,equivalent to a controllable current source,is developed and installed between the neutral point and the ground.It can optimally control the phase and amplitude of the injection current,and then force the three-phase voltage to be in balance.The simulation analysis and the prototype experiment results show that this method can suppress the three-phase unbalanced overvoltage quickly and effectively without measuring the three-phase impedances to the ground.The neutral point displacement voltage can be suppressed to zero in this way.
