Abstract:Power converter is an important part of the switched reluctance motor drives system, and also one of the weakest parts of the whole system. Longterm operation in fault is bound to damage the entire system. Based on different behavior patterns of the power converter supply current and each phase currentunder normal and fault operation, fault diagnosis eigenvalues are given, and combined with on-off states of power elements to make a comprehensive analysis. This paper presents a new asymmetric half-bridge power converter fault detection method for switched reluctance motor. Simulation and experimental results show that the detection method can quickly and accurately diagnose the fault phase, determine fault type, identify faulty component at low and high speed operation, save the number of the current sensor, and has high reliability.
