Abstract:The cable bundle is the main reason of the automobile meeting the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) criterion. Establishment of the conductor simulation model which can reflect the cable bundle electromagnetic characteristics accurately is the key point of modeling automotive EMC. Equivalent model of cable bundle is described in this paper to calculate the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) immunity. First, the equivalent wave impedance is defined and derived, and then all the conductors of the cable bundle are classified into four groups with respect to the wave impedance and the terminal impedance. The unit length capacitance matrix and inductance matrix of the multi-conductor transmission lines are given, and the equivalent model inductance matrix and capacitance matrix are derived. It is verified that the conductor induced current can be calculated by HFSS. The equivalent model of the nine-conductor cable bundle and the simulation results show that the equivalent model is correct. Equivalent model can effectively reduce the complexity of the model, and can be used for modeling EMR immunity of automotive cable bundle.
