Selective Voltage Harmonic Elimination in Random Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation for Three-Phase Inverter

Abstract:Traditional random pulse width modulation (RPWM) strategy cannot selectively eliminate or reduce the specific sub-harmonic frequency of the system. A selective voltage harmonic elimination method based on random space vector pulse width modulation (RSVPWM) for three-phase voltage source inverters is proposed. The specific sub-frequency harmonics are eliminated by canceling each other with the preceding and succeeding terms in the Fourier series of PWM pulses. Two ways of eliminating selective voltage harmonics are proposed. On this basis, the duty cycle, the random integer k, the switching frequency range and the frequency to be eliminated are used to calculate the switching period value. Then, the general formulas of switching period, random integer k and the corresponding upper and lower frequency limits are derived. The method can simultaneously reduce the noise power of a specific frequency and its integer multiple while realizing the traditional RPWM function. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
