Abstract:Traditional dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) based on voltage source inverter (VSI) needs energy storage devices, such as electrolytic capacitors, which are heavy and high cost.A new type of storageless DVR based on improved direct AC/AC power conversion is proposed.It consists of direct AC/AC power converter, solid-state-relay (SSR) and isolation transformer whose primary port is connected with AC/AC converter through SSR and secondary port is connected with the load.When line voltage fluctuations occur, AC/AC converter generates compensation voltage, whose polarity is controlled by switching the SSR group in order to stabilize the load voltage.The proposed restorer does not use energy storage devices and has simple commutation process, fast dynamic response and low cost.An experimental prototype is designed.Experiment results show that the load voltage can be kept stable under line voltage swells or sags circumstances, which verifies the validity of the proposed plan.
