Abstract：The frequency domain expressions of the inrush currents of three-phase transformer were derived. The effects of the initial phase angle and residual flux on the inrush current were analyzed. A new algorithm was used to identify the inrush current in this paper. According to the difference between the multivariate multiscale sample entropy of the three-phase inrush currents and fault currents, two dimensional spaces consisting of the scale and multivariate multiscale sample entropy was divided into the operating region and braking region. The ratio of the real current entropy area and the preset braking area was defined the entropy area ratio, and the inrush current could be identified from the fault current through comprising the entropy area ratio with the fixed value. The paper is supported by simulation results in ATP/EMTP, showing the method is effective under different operation conditions, and it is better than the traditional second harmonic method.
