High Performance Control Strategy for Long Primary Double Sided Linear Motors

Abstract:This paper introduces long primary double sided linear motor for electromagnetic launch, gives its mathematical model on two-phase synchronous moving coordinate, and establishes secondary field oriented control system. Due to dynamic longitudinal end effect leading magnetizing inductance change causes the destruction of the magnetic field orientation and decline of control system dynamic performance. Using dynamic longitudinal end effect coefficient for real-time correction is presented to solve the problem. In order to improve the mechanical reliability of drive system, an improved model reference adaptive speed estimation system with new adaptation mechanism is proposed, and achieves speed sensorless vector control. Simulation and experimental results show the control strategy and speed estimation system is correct.
