Abstract:This paper presents a coordinated control strategy in coal-fired power plant based on four-quadrant power conversion technology. Through coordinated controls of medium voltage drives with PWM rectifier and switched capacitor banks, energy efficiency and reliability of plant auxiliary system can be largely improved. Based on the working principle of PWM rectifier, this paper firstly elaborates the design philosophy of the coordinated reactive power control strategy, and analyzes the algorithm design under both steady-state and dynamic operation conditions. And secondly it introduces the proof-of-concept simulation results based on 300MW steam-turbine generator system. In the end the testing results based on the “hardware- in-loop” real-time prototype are given, which demonstrate the effectiveness of the control strategy.
