Abstract：Blade mass imbalance is one of the common faults of wind turbines. Most of the analysis methods are based on the average wind speed at the hub, ignoring the influence of wind speed spatiotemporal distribution on the fault characteristics. This paper analyzes the fault characteristics of the blade mass imbalance considering the wind speed spatiotemporal distribution. Firstly, the fault characteristics are analyzed, and taking the wind shear and tower shadow effects into account, the analytical expressions and the change characteristics of the rotor angular velocity, the stator and rotor currents under the blade mass imbalance condition are discussed. Then, the DFIG model and the equivalent wind speed model based on the basic wind speed were built in Matlab/Simulink, and the electrical signal was analyzed using Hilbert demodulation to verify the correctness of the analytical derivation. The results show that after considering the influence of the wind speed spatiotemporal distribution, the blade mass imbalance fault will result in one-fold and 3i (i=1, 2,…, n) fold rotating frequency fluctuations in the rotor angular velocity, and the modulation frequencies in the stator and rotor currents are one-fold and 3i-fold rotating frequencies, among which the 3i-fold rotating frequency fluctuation is caused by the spatiotemporal distribution of wind speed.
