Probabilistic Evaluation of Short-Circuit Currents in Active Distribution Grids Considering Low Voltage Ride-Through Uncertainty of Photovoltaic

Abstract：The short-circuit current of photovoltaic power generations is determined by the sag of grid-connected voltage and low voltage ride-through during the fault, however both voltage and low voltage ride-through are uncertain. Short-circuit current characteristics of photovoltaic power generations, under different terminal voltage sags, is analyzed. Considering uncertainty of low voltage ride-through ability, the normal distribution probability density function is used to characterize the random characteristics of photovoltaic power generation, then a stochastic evaluation model of low-voltage off-grid is established. Moreover, based on Monte Carlo method, a probabilistic evaluation method of short-circuit currents in active distribution grids, considering low voltage ride-through uncertainty, is proposed. The probability distribution of short-circuit current in the system is determined by short-circuit current characteristics of photovoltaic generations, low-voltage off-grid model and fault conditions. Finally, the method is verified by calculation examples with 13-node and 50-node respectively. In addition, the proposed method comprehensively considers random factors of faults occurrence and low-voltage off-grid, therefore the obtained results can accurately reflect the actual short-circuit current level in power system.
