Abstract The voltage sag on the grid side is one of the common operating conditions when the three-phase grid-connected converter is running.It is helpful to improve the equipment′s capability of withstanding grid faults by analyzing the transient response of the converter′s phase-locked loop(PLL).This paper provides a second-order nonlinear differential equation based on the mathematic model of three-phase voltage-source PWM rectifier and the phase-locked loop to calculate the output phase angle of the synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop during a failure of single phase voltage sag.Then,the numerical solution is calculated by Mathematica.The validity of the equation is verified by Simulink.The pattern how the parameters of the PLL′s PI controller influence on the fault current waveform is obtained through the analysis of the equation and the simulation.Improper integration parameters will lead to the divergence of the system current in some cases.The simulation results and theoretical analysis are validated by hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
