Abstract  Compared with traditional discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) Boost power factor correction (PFC) converter, quadratic Boost PFC converter with input inductor L1 and storage inductor L2 operating in DCM, has much lower output voltage ripple, but worse power factor (PF). First, by analyzing PF expression of quadratic Boost PFC converter, this paper points out that PF can be improved by increasing middle capacitor voltage of converter properly. Further, The influence of inductor L2 on middle capacitor voltage and its voltage ripple are studied, which indicate that when inductor L2 operates in DCM, higher PF and lower output voltage ripple can be achieved by setting appropriate inductor ratio of L2/L1. The correctness of theoretical analysis is verified by simulations and experimental results
