A Single-Stage Bridgeless Isolated PFC Converter with Wide Output Voltage Range and Low Voltage Stress |

Abstract Since the single-stage bridgeless isolated power factor correction (PFC) converter has high voltage stress of the MOSFET, low power factor and high total harmonic distortion when it works in the Buck mode, a novel single-stage bridgeless isolated PFC converter is presented. This converter adopts a dual-winding split capacitor structure, which reduces the voltage stress of the MOSFET and the diodes. The power frequency MOSFET can eliminate the input current distortion, there by effectively realizing high power factor in Buck mode and broadening the range of output voltage. When the converter works in discontinue conduction mode (DCM), zero current switching (ZCS) of the diode can be achieved. The working principle and operating characteristics of the converter are analyzed in detail. Finally, a 50W experimental prototype is built to verify that the converter can work in a wide output voltage range, and has the advantages of small device voltage stress, low THD, high power factor, simple control method and high conversion efficiency.
