Abstract  For a proposed novel disc transverse-flux permanent magnet brushless machine,a simplified network-varying equivalent magnetic circuit model is built. With the model, the stator phase linkages, the no-load permanent magnet phase electromotive force waveform, and the load torque waveform can be achieved directly without performing the complex process of solving nodal equations. The performance results from calculating the equivalent magnetic circuit model are compared with those from both 3-D finite element method and experiment for a prototyped machine, which verifies the presented equivalent circuit model and the corresponding performance calculating method.
