Abstract  According to the characteristics of switched reluctance starter/generator system, its starting performance has been studied under the maximum starting torque and the minimum starting torque ripple. After the simulation model of the switched reluctance starter/generator system is established, the turn-on angle and turn-off angle of main switch on the basis of the two control requirements is optimized at different rotor speeds. Then the fuzzy estimation of the standing PWM duty and the sliding + PI control strategy of the two different starting requirements have been designed. Finally, using the prototype platform of switched reluctance starter/generator system, the starting control method is verified.
