Abstract A variable-order RC equivalent circuit model based on the Akaike information criterion (AIC) is proposed to identify the optimal RC model order with different state of charge (SOC),which considers both the accuracy and the practicability of the model.The validity of the proposed model is verified under the working conditions of pulse charging/discharging,constant current charging/discharging,and urban dynamometer driving schedule (UDDS) test cycles.By slightly increasing the model’s complexity,the proposed variable-order RC equivalent circuit model can precisely simulate the lithium-ion battery’s nonlinear characteristics,steep-at-the-edge and flat-in-the-middle,with less than 1% relative error.Thus the model has high application value.
