Abstract To solve the problem of arc suppression and fault line diagnosis when single-phase grounding fault occurs in neutral resonant grounded system, a method for electromagnetic hybrid arc suppression and feeder selection based on the novel magnetic controlled petersen coil are proposed in the paper, which consists of magnetically controlled reactor(MCR) and inverter. A method, based on the decoupling compensation of the reactive and active component of the grounding fault current, for electromagnetic hybrid arc suppression and measuring the grounding parameters is proposed. The influence of petersen coil on the zero-sequence admittance is analyzed in detail and the feeder selection method based on dynamic zero-sequence admittance is put forward. The method and it’s control strategy to improve the sensitivity of the dynamic zero-sequence admittance to the adjustment of MCR by taking advantage of the equivalent negative resistance character of inverter is presented. This criterion, without the need of cross comparison, is certain and unique. Simulation and experiments on simulating platform verify the correctness and feasibility of the method and control strategy.
