Abstract  The spin rotation and deflection torques of the three-DOF deflection type PM motor are selected as the optimization object. To improve the optimization efficiency, firstly, the Taguchi algorithm is applied to select the structural parameters that affect the motor’s torque greatly and simplifies the optimization process effectively. Then, based on the central composite design (CCD),the sample point group is constructed, and the response surface numerical model equation is built by the finite element method tests. The impact on the response value by the interaction between factors of response surface model is analyzed and derived. The results show that the optimization method is efficient and reliable and the experimental results can be predicted by the response surface functions with the structure parameters effectively optimized.
