Abstract:This paper presents a novel flux-weakening scheme for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSM). Considering the characteristics of the torque in different speed regions, voltage ratings of the power inverter and current limit of the motor, the optimal current vector assignment scheme is designed for maximum torque. By dividing the whole speed range into four regions, smooth transition of current vector control can be implemented. Maximum torque output under the rating speed and maximum power output in flux-weakening region is guaranteed. Simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed control algorithm which expands the operating speed range of the motor and achieves faster response.
