Analysis and Optimization of Single Phase Brushless Slotted Limited-Angle Torque Motor

Abstract:Asingle phase brushless slotted limited-angle torque motor (LATM) was proposedto reduce torque ripple over a wide operation range of angles and increase output torque. Focusing on the torque characteristic of LATMand the torque ripplecaused bycogging torque, the torque performance was compared with different pole and slot configuration, stator skew, and permanent magnet structure.The optimum LATMwas designed to improve the torque performance according to the research. Finally, experiment was carried out in the optimized prototype, andthe simulations agreed well with the measured results.
