Abstract:The configuration and operating principle of a hybrid radial magnetic bearing are introduced. This is a homo-polar hybrid radial magnetic bearing. It can reduce hysteresis loss so that a solid rotor can be used, which can increase the endurable speed of the rotor. The functional relationships among magnetic force, control current and rotor displacement are revealed by using the theory of equivalent magnetic circuit. The operating principle is verified by finite element simulation and experiment. It can levitate the rotor of motor up to 10 000r/min.
