Abstract:This paper presents a novel active boost power converter with simple structure and real-time control of winding demagnetization voltage. This converter utilizes demagnetization energy and active power device to realize the real-time control of demagnetization voltage according to the motor condition, which further realizes low torque ripple operation of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) with high operation efficiency and large load change. This converter only contains an IGBT and a diode in a phase winding, which simplifies the converter structure. The topology of this novel active boost power converter and its working mechanism in three-phase switched reluctance motor are analyzed. The influence of demagnetization voltage on the negative torque is also analyzed and calculated by their mathematical model. Combing this calculation and instantaneous torque control, the SRM drive system based on this novel converter is constructed. The simulation shows the effectiveness and superiority of theoretical analysis.
