Abstract:This paper focuses on the numerical calculations of the coupled electromagnetic-temperature fields in the end region of large hydro-generators using the MagNet and ThermNet software. For this purpose, it discusses the simplification of the 3D solid model, the approach to effectively deal with the thin skin-depth problem, and the implementation of the MagNet and ThermNet software. Finally, it presents the numerical results of the eddy current and temperature fields of a 100MW hydrogenerator.
