Abstract:The zigzag leakage flux of surface-mounted permanent magnetic synchronous machines (PMSM) with similar pole and slot number is bigger than other kinds of electric machines. The traditional method, which chooses the zigzag leakage coefficient with experience and then is verified with finite element software, prolonged the design period of motor in general. Therefore, the method to calculate the zigzag leakage flux promptly and accurately is necessary. The method to calculate the average zigzag leakage flux per pole is proposed according to the different characteristics of the zigzag leakage flux per tooth in the semi-cell electric machine. Analytic expression of the average zigzag leakage flux of per pole and the zigzag leakage coefficient is deduced by converting the zigzag leakage flux of all teeth in semi-cell electric machine to per pole. And based on analytic expressions, the further study of the influences to the zigzag leakage coefficient when the pole number and pole-arc coefficient of the electric machine are changed is done. The results of analytic calculation of the average zigzag leakage flux per pole are accordant with the simulation ones. These results prove that the method to calculate the average zigzag leakage flux of per pole is correct and accurate.
